1. What is your flagship service or program priority?

The central thrust of our program is discovering local talent and finding global resources to support their educational training. Practically this means if we could only do one thing (of all our program offerings), it would be finding gifted young students and matching them with global resources.

2. Do you charge a fee for your services?

Our operations are entirely free and no student is ever charged for the services we provide. We believe eliminating the fee barrier is essential to making out services available to all students, irrespective of their socio–economic status.

3. Who are your local partners?

We work closely with a broad spectrum of local partners.  Local partners are indispensable to our core mission of discovering and supporting exceptional local talents.  Our local partners include corporate organizations, educational ministries, teachers and non-governmental organizations.

4. What is the qualification to be a mentor?

Our goal is build a deep and broad network of mentors with a diverse background. There is no single qualification to be an AGS mentor. However we are biased towards cultivating a community of mentors who care deeply, who have persevered to achieve success in their chosen profession, and above all, who have personally committed to investing in the next generation.

5. What is your scholar selection criteria

There is no single profile for what makes a scholar, however there are a few qualities we look for in an AGS scholar. These include:

  • A consistent history of exceptional academic or artistic performance.
  • Deep personal drive, determination and grit.
  • Self-awareness and a compelling personal narrative.
  • Innate perennial curiosity.
  • A commitment to becoming better and positively impacting society.
6. How do you know if your program is working?

At the AGS we are obsessed we program evaluation. Consequently we have built in program evaluation metrics and experiments into every element of our engagement. Our program evaluation goals seek to understand the best way to discover talents in local communities across Africa, the best way to approach and engage stakeholder. To understand the efficacy of our efforts  we run project based experiments, annual program evaluations and distill the results into our annual reports and lessons

7. What is a sustainability partner?

Sustainability partners are partners that provide the resources and infrastructure critical for advancing our global operations. Sustainability partners have reinforced their commitment to the AGS with perennial personal, professional and, or philanthropic commitment to the long term sustenance of the AGS and its mission.

Sustainability partners include philanthropies, corporations and individuals donating development resources and professionals volunteering expert services.

8. What is an institutional partner?

Institutional partners are local and global partners involved in the daily logistical implementation of our goal of identifying, nourishing and connecting local exceptional talents in Africa with global educational resources.

Institutional partners include local teachers who work with and recommend exceptional students, global prep school and admissions offices guiding us through the admissions process, regional educational ministries and secretariats adopting us into local educational systems and national embassies mediating the intercontinental exchange.
